This is the sixth annual report by King Sturge entitled “European
Property Sustainability Matters”. It addresses some of the current
issues and ideas which are emerging under the banner of
“sustainability”. • Sustainability strategy: the use of buildings
needs to be appropriately managed if the carbon footprint is to be
lowered. There needs to be aco-ordinated approach making the best use
of the building and its technologies to obtain the best value. |
• Retro-fitting buildings: how do we make better use of existing building to make them more efficient for occupiers AND more environmentally friendly? (See page 7)
• Retro-fitting places: re-using our towns andcities is the major challenge for the next decade.The easy days of ever rising capital values andplenty of debt to finance new build are no longer with us.
